Access to healthcare should feel consistent, welcoming, and rooted in trust. Yet, many Black families face barriers that make preventive care, maternal health services, and chronic disease management difficult to access. To address these challenges, The BLACK Collaborative Inc. is expanding its weekly drop-in office hours starting Thursday, March 12, 2026. This initiative brings together vital health services and essential supplies in one trusted, community-based location.

What The Expanded Drop-In Hours Offer
Every Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, families can visit The Center of Eden at 1212 Sycamore Street, Suite 26, to access a range of services designed to support cardiovascular health, perinatal mental wellness, lactation, and essential supplies. This consolidated approach reduces the need to visit multiple locations and helps build trust through consistent, familiar care.
BLACK RHYTHM & BLUES (BLACK R&B) – Heart Hub
Heart disease remains a leading health concern, especially in Black communities where disparities in cardiovascular outcomes persist. The BLACK Collaborative’s cardiovascular wellness initiative offers:
Drop-in blood pressure checks to monitor heart health regularly
Education on heart health, including lifestyle tips and risk factors
Awareness about stress and its impact on blood pressure
Referrals and navigation support to connect families with further care
This program is strengthened through a partnership with the American Heart Association, focusing on advancing cardiovascular health equity in the community.
BLACK BERRY & JUICE – Perinatal Mental Wellness
Maternal mental health is a foundation for family well-being. The BLACK Collaborative provides a safe, affirming space for perinatal mood and anxiety support. Services include:
Check-ins that respect cultural experiences and emotional needs
Resource navigation to connect families with mental health professionals
Stress reduction strategies tailored to perinatal challenges
This ongoing support helps families manage mental health during pregnancy and postpartum, reducing isolation and improving outcomes.
Lactation & Infant Feeding Support
Feeding a newborn can be challenging, and access to knowledgeable support makes a difference. Families visiting the drop-in hours can receive:
Breastfeeding and chestfeeding guidance that respects cultural practices
Help with pump use and troubleshooting common issues
Education on infant feeding and maintaining milk supply
Referrals for specialized lactation services when needed
The approach centers on dignity, cultural humility, and evidence-informed care to empower families in their feeding choices.
Material needs often affect health outcomes. During Thursday drop-in hours, families can access:
Infant supplies, such as diapers and wipes, are available
Hygiene essentials to support daily health
Resource navigation for ongoing material and health needs
Providing these supplies alongside health services acknowledges the connection between material access and overall well-being.
Why This Initiative Matters

Black families face disproportionate barriers to accessing preventive care and maternal health services. Fragmented care often leads to missed opportunities for early intervention and support. By consolidating cardiovascular screenings, perinatal mental health support, lactation care, and essential supplies into consistent weekly hours, The BLACK Collaborative reduces these barriers.
This initiative builds trust by offering care in a familiar, community-based setting where families feel welcomed and supported. It also addresses multiple health needs in one visit, saving time and reducing stress for caregivers.
How Families Can Benefit

Imagine a mother who is navigating postpartum anxiety while also managing high blood pressure. Before, she might have had to visit separate clinics on different days, juggling appointments and transportation. Now, she can drop in on a Thursday to check her blood pressure, talk with a mental health support person, get help with breastfeeding, and pick up diapers—all in one place.
This holistic approach supports families in practical ways, making health care more accessible and less overwhelming.
Building Stronger Community Health Together

The expanded drop-in hours are more than just a schedule change. They represent a commitment to health equity and community well-being. By partnering with organizations like the American Heart Association and centering cultural humility, The BLACK Collaborative creates a space where families can thrive.
Families are encouraged to visit The Center of Eden every Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM to take advantage of these services. Whether it’s a quick blood pressure check or a longer conversation about mental health or infant feeding, the door is open.
Take Action for Your Family’s Health
If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, mark your calendar for Thursdays at The Center of Eden. Consistent preventive care and support can make a lasting difference in health outcomes. Reach out, drop in, and connect with a community that cares.
